Brian Bell East Asia-Pacific Women’s Cricket Challenge 2006

In 2006 Brian Bell & Co were awarded the naming rights for the first ever East Asia Pacific Women’s Tournament, which would consist of a three match 50-Over series between Papua New Guinea and Japan, to be played at Amini Park, Port Moresby.   The winning team would move into the world group to attempt to qualify for the 2007 Women’s World Cup. ICC WOMEN’S EAST ASIA-PACIFIC TROPHY 2010

The 2010 East Asia Pacific Trophy was hosted by Japan at the Sano Cricket Grounds. It was just a three team tournament featuring Japan, Papua New Guinea and Samoa. 2010 Asian Games – Guangzhou (Olympic Tournament)

China were the hosts of the 2010 Asia Games and the cricket was played in the purpose built stadium in Guangzhou. The tournament was held in the Twenty20 format.   Coached by Katrina Keenan, Japan were drawn in a group alongside Nepal, Bangladesh and Hong Kong, while Pakistan and Thailand joined the hosts China in the opposing group. In 2011 Papua New Guinea hosted the five team East Asia Pacific regional tournament at their Port Moresby facility. 2012 ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifying Series

In November 2011 Japan took part in the 50-Over ICC Women’s 2012 World Cup Qualifying Series which was played in Bangladesh.   Participation came as reward for winning the 2010 East Asia Pacific Trophy. The team travelled to Bangladesh to compete in a 10-team tournament.   Japan were drawn in a group which included the hosts, Ireland, Pakistan and West Indies. 2012 Pepsi ICC East Asia-Pacific Women’s Trophy

2012 Singapore Cricket Association Women’s Challenge

Following the success in Vanuatu, Japan were invited to take part in the Singapore Cricket Association’s Twenty20 Challenge tournament in July.   Along with the hosts and Japan, Thailand and ‘Cricket Without Borders’ also competed.   The Japan team finished top of the group with three wins and one match abandoned due to rain, but lost a tight final against Thailand.   The homepage for the tournament can be found here (including all individual scorecards) and the travelling squad here.…

2012/13 Pepsi ICC EAP Men’s Championship (Official Competition)

In February 2013 Japan took part in the ICC East Asia Pacific Regional Tournament as part of the pathway to World Cup Qualification and the World Cricket League.
