The Women’s Japan National Team put together an excellent bowling performance in the fourth match of the series against Singapore.
After winning the toss and choosing to bowl in damp conditions, Singapore frustrated the Japanese batters, keeping the in-form Erika Oda away from the strike as she faced just 16 balls in the first ten overs.
Ishita Shukla then did some damage through the middle overs to have Japan in trouble at 67 for seven in the 15th over when Oda was dismissed for 19.
Japan rallied through Hinase Goto (15*) and Elena Kusuda-Nairn who put on a partnership of 31 to take the team to 98 for eight at the end of the 20 overs.
The Japanese bowlers and fielders then took the fight to Singapore with all five bowlers used taking wickets and three run outs being forced as Japan showed their quality in the second part of the game.
Shrunali Ranade was the pick of the bowlers, collected three wickets for just nine runs from her four overs, while Shimako Kato, Mai Yanagida, Nonohan Yasumoto and Kusuda-Nairn all picked up one each.
Japan took the last wicket in the 20th over to bowl Singapore all out for 56 and win by 42 runs.
The fifth and final match of the series will start at 10 am on Sunday.
