100 Million Yen has been promised to Sano City Council to develop cricket by the Cabinet Office of the National Government of Japan.
In a statement made on the 28th of April, it was outlined that the chief purpose of the grant was to further develop the facilities already in place into an international standard ground.
Sano City has been supporting the “City of Cricket” project, run by the JCA, and aims to become the permanent home of Cricket in Japan. This commitment has already been demonstrated by the renaming of the former Tanuma High School as the “Sano International Cricket Ground” in 2016.
The national grant will be used by Sano City to start developing the facility in the current financial year.
