Men’s Japan National Team Complete Sri Lanka Tour

The Men’s Japan National Team completed their 12-day tour of Sri Lanka this week, ending a series of seven matches with five wins and two losses.
The opposition were four regional Under 19 teams, with Japan beating all the teams at least once.
The JCA would like to formally thank Sri Lanka Cricket for arranging the matches and organising the match venues.
The travelling team, consisting of 18 players, were also hosted for a function at the Japanese Embassy in Colombo by Ambassador Akio Isomata, who celebrated the beginning of cricket diplomacy between the two countries.
The function, also included such personalities as, Sri Lanka Cricket President Shammi Silva, Japan Cricket Association CEO Alex Miyaji, SLC CEO Ashley De Silva, JCA Goodwill Ambassador Priyantha Kariyapperuma, and cricketers Sanath Jayasuriya, Chaminda Vass, Angelo Mathews, Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Charith Asalanka.
The team was also hosted for a function by the Colombo Hilton, organised by Senaro Motor Company for which we are also grateful.
The tour was arranged as final preparation for the ICC World Cup Asia/EAP Regional Final where nine teams will travel to Oman at the start of October to compete for three places at the 2026 T20 World Cup.
The touring team will be announced in early September.
