ジャパンXIがエンバシーカップ2024を制す

The Embassy Cup was held at the Sano International Cricket Ground on October 26th and 27th, where Japan XI defeated Indian Embassy XI by 31 runs , preventing the latter from winning the cup for the third time in a row.

During the Embassy Cup, various events were held at the Sano International Cricket Ground.

On the 26th, many representatives from embassies and partners, as well as members of the local community, attended the event and enjoyed cricket matches, sports experiences, food such as fish and chips and curry, music, a charity raffle and more.

On the 27th, the Tanuma Furusato Festival was held at the same time, attracting many locals. Visitors not only enjoyed the fancy dress competition, haunted house, Sanomaru Fuwa Fuwa Dome, raffle and food, but also got to experience the charm of cricket through cricket watching with commentary by comedians, escorting kids and experiencing cricket. At the finale, 500 sky lanterns were launched into the air, beautifully lighting up the night sky above Sano International Cricket Ground.

In Group A (first division tournament) of the Embassy Cup, a three-way battle was fought between Japan XI, Indian Embassy XI, and Sri Lanka Embassy XI in the league matches, and Japan XI and Indian Embassy XI advanced to the finals based on net run rate (goal difference). Japan XI avenged their loss to Indian Embassy XI in the league match and won their second championship.

Japan XI’s Abhishek Anand was the tournament’s highest run-scorer with 220 runs from four matches and also showed impressive bowling form, taking a hat-trick in the match against Sri Lanka Embassy XI.

In Group B (second division) , Pakistan Embassy XI, who had lost to Nepal Embassy XI in the league match, got their revenge in the final, winning by 7 wickets . Pakistan Embassy XI, who won Group B, will replace Australia-New Zealand Embassy XI, who were last in Group A, and will be promoted to Group A (first division) in next year’s Embassy Cup.
