東アジアカップ 男子日本代表コーチ任命

日本クリケット協会とクリケット・ヴィクトリア協会（オーストラリア）は長年に渡り友好関係を築いてきました。

同協会によるコーチ派遣事業の一環として、日本代表チームはこれまでに優秀なコーチ陣の指導を受けてきました。今回、新たに男子代表チームの指導に当たられるのは、デビット・レイド氏です。

具体的な指導内容は、11月開催の東アジアカップに出場する男子日本代表チームの指導となります。

オーストラリアにおいて、指導者としての最高レベルであるレベル3コーチの認定を受けている同氏は、7月30、31日及び8月6、7日に代表チームの指導に当たり、10月末に帰国する予定です。

代表チーム指導の他にも、7月31日に佐野国際クリケットグランドにて開催される日本プレミアリーグの試合（北関東ライオンズvs西関東ハリケーンズ）を観戦し、8月3日から5日に富士市で行われるアンダー19リーグを観戦する予定です。

同氏は現在、ヴィクトリア・プレミアリーグにてノースコート・クリケットクラブの指導に当たり、ヴィクトリア・アカデミーにおいても2年間に渡り、同氏が立案したプログラムに携わっておられます。

また今年に入り、すでにインディアン・プレミアリーグのKings XI Punjabにおいて3週間、ムンバイクリケット協会において1週間、さらには南アフリカ育成チームにおいて1週間の指導に当たられ、日本での指導は4カ国目となります。

私達はデビット氏の来日を心からお待ちしております。また、同氏の滞在が素晴らしいものとなるようお祈り申し上げます。

Time flies when you’re having fun!

The past 10 days I have spent playing loads of cricket, netball, kilikiti (traditional Samoan cricket), drinking coconuts, helping with school clinics, jumping in water holes and simply soaking up the sun in Samoa.

Had an awesome time playing for CWOB in the ICC EAP World Cup Qualifier, we managed to win a few games (including our two against Japan!!) and more importantly made lots of friends!

One highlight from the trip would have been the school visit, the smiles on the kids’ faces and the enjoyment they got from learning cricket and receiving small gifts was absolutely priceless!

Wow, what a hectic week it’s been! I spent my time staying in a traditional Japanese homestay in Akishima, Tokyo which was an awesome experience. Each day was jammed packed with new exciting adventures, including running and planning a Bhukatsu (after school) program, multiple school visits and plenty of new and “interesting” foods for me to try!

20160711_181143One of the greatest things I got to try was flowing somen – a Summer Japanese tradition where, with chop sticks, you catch thin noodles, cherries, tomatoes (or anything else which is coming down) running in water down a bamboo pipe. So much FUN!

Thanks to the Morita family for taking such good care of me and allowing me to immerse myself in the Japanese culture.

Now I head off (along with the Japanese team) to Samoa to take part in the ICC East Asia Pacific World Cup Qualifier with Cricket Without Borders. I’ll be playing against Japan – so watch this space to hear all the news from there!

This is Chelsea Moscript’s first post about her internship with the Japan Cricket Association.

I’ve been lucky enough to be given an opportunity of a lifetime to have an internship with the Japan Cricket Association, thanks in particular to the help and funding of the Australia – Japan Foundation, along with Cricket Without Borders and JCA for making this opportunity possible. For those who know me, know writing isn’t one of my strongest points but hey following with the “CWOB way” I’m going to “be bold” and give it a shot anyway!

Here’s a bit of an update of my journey so far..

I arrived here safely Friday morning after my flight was delayed for 1 hour in Melbourne. I didn’t get much sleep on the plane (plenty of movies were watched of course) as the excitement loomed of what could be coming in the next six weeks! After arriving in Narita, I was greeted at the airport by Naoki Kurihara and his daughter Marina where we embarked on a road trip to the cricket capital of Japan – Sano (two hours north of Tokyo). Once back in Sano we grabbed a quick bite to eat at the Cricket Restaurant (BEST RAMEN AND GYOZA EVER) and then it was straight into it with my first school visit at Ishuzka.

Day two was a rest day so I did some touristy things of course! Naoki took me to Nikko – which was absolutely stunning! Temples, waterfalls, rivers and bridges were all amongst the sights to be seen. So much jam packed into a rest day – rest is probably not the word I should have used for it – totally worth it though!

Yesterday proved to be a challenging but very rewarding experience in itself in particularly hot weather, the day began with the Sano Cricket Blast where I helped run a skill zone and then followed by the Under 15 Club training.

The Kurihara’s (Naoki, Callie, Tomoki and Marina) have been so accommodating for me thus far, introducing me to some delicious Japanese food (ramen, gyoza, yoghurt drink, bento box – the list could go on for days!), taking to me to cool places, being fun to play with and simply opening up their home for me to stay there. They really have taken me in to be a part of their family which I am truly grateful for.

Having a blast so far, looking forward to the challenges and opportunities ahead!

女子W杯予選：大会ベスト11発表

日本からは大会を通じ、87 runsを獲得した小林選手と、バッティングで63 runs、ボーリングで6 wicketsを獲得した宮地選手が選出された。

女子W杯予選最終戦：日本、サモアを追い込むものの惜しくも敗戦

ワールドカップ東アジア太平洋予選に出場している女子日本代表は、22日にサモアと対戦した。先攻の日本は宮地選手、大田選手、小林選手などの活躍で135ランを獲得。守備では、7つのアウトを取るなど、後攻のサモアを追い込んだが、135ランを守り切れずに逆転を許した。

女子W杯予選：3戦3勝でPNGが優勝

サモアで開催中の2017年女子ワールドカップ東アジア太平洋予選で、パプアニューギニア(以下PNG)がサモアを下し、優勝と世界最終予選出場を決めた。

PNGは、総当たり2回戦計4試合中3試合を終了し、3勝とした。サモアは、同じく3戦を終了し1勝2敗、日本は、2戦を終了し2敗となっている。

日本は、21日にPNGと、22日にはサモアと対戦し、準優勝を目指す。

女子W杯予選第2戦：サモアに26ラン差で敗戦

7月18日にサモアで開催された、女子ワールドカップ東アジア太平洋予選の第2戦でサモアと対戦した日本代表は、サモアが得点した207ランの逆転を狙いましたが、惜しくも26ラン届かず、2敗目を喫しました。

2016年ICC女子ワールドカップ予選 ― EAPプレビュー

7月15日（金）から、サモアのアピアにてICC女子ワールドカップ東アジア太平洋予選がスタートします。

本予選には、ホスト国であるサモアに加え、パプアニューギニアと日本の3カ国が出場します。サモアとパプアニューギニアの2カ国は、パプアニューギニアで開催された2015年パシフィック・ゲームズにて、サモアが金メダル、パプアニューギニアが銀メダルを獲得し、本予選への出場権を得ました。

東アジア太平洋地域予選の優勝国は2017年ワールドカップ(イングランド)の世界最終予選への出場権を得ます。

ICC東アジア太平洋局長であるキーラン・マクミラン氏は、「優れたグローバルスポーツは、あらゆる面において、女性が関わっているものです。ICCはこの事を戦略的な優先事項として掲げています。世界大会につながる地域予選を開催することは、その中でも大切なことです。」と述べました。

さらに、「参加国の草の根的な普及活動及び選手育成活動の成果が、各国の代表チームの成長につながっていることを目の当たりに出来るのはとても楽しみです。」と述べました。

また、本予選には、今回で２度目の参加となるクリケット・ウィズアウト・ボーダーズ（CWOB）も出場します。CWOBは、スポーツマンシップやフレンドシップ、文化的多様性、そしてクリケットを楽しむという精神に基づき、若い女性に向けたクリケットの推進と普及を目的とするチームです。

CWOBはオーストラリア、ビクトリアからの若い選手で結成され、招待チームとして参加します。大会で優勝する事は出来ませんが、3カ国全てと試合をします。コーチは、元オーストラリアクリケット選手のブライス・マクゲイン氏です。

予選は7月15日（金）に開幕し、全試合アピアのガーデン・オーバルクリケット場にて行われます。50オーバー制で総当たり2回戦が行われ、最上位のチームの優勝となります。日本の公式戦は、16日(PNG)、18日(サモア)、21日(PNG)、22日(サモア)の4試合で、15日及び19日にはCWOBとの20オーバー制の練習試合も予定されています。公式戦の試合時間は、日本時間で午前6時～午後1時を予定しており、ライブスコアが提供されます。https://cricket.or.jp/event/womens-world-cup-qualifier-east-asia-pacific

代表チームプレビュー: 日本代表

女子代表チームは、惜しくも2位となった2年前の雪辱を果たすべく、意気揚々とサモアへ出発しました。

2014年にはベテラン選手が数名引退してしまいましたが、チームには経験豊富な選手も多く、さらに新しい選手も数名加わりました。

宮地事務局長は、「現在の女子チームにとてもわくわくしています。選手はこれまでに練習を重ね、様々な経験もしてきました。チームの未来は明るいものになると確信しています。」と述べました。

日本代表は昨年には、韓国で開催された東アジアカップに出場し、中国、香港に続き3位でしたが、多くの新しい選手にとっては価値のある貴重な経験となりました。

今年に入ってからも様々な強化活動が実施されてきました。4名の選手が東アジア太平洋選抜に選出され、1月に行われたオーストラリア・カントリー・クリケット・チャンピオンシップに出場し、見事優勝を飾りました。

また、5月には柳田 舞選手と宮地静香選手が香港女子プレミアリーグに招待され、大会第2試合及び第3試合に出場しました。宮地選手は第3試合においてMVPに選ばれる活躍を見せました。また香港滞在中には、現オーストラリア代表選手と共に戦い、または対戦し、さらに、元オーストラリア代表選手のスチュアート・マクギル氏からの指導も受けました。

2016年より新たな試みとして、クリケットビクトリアとの提携により、オーストラリアから様々なコーチを招待し、選手の指導にあたって頂きました。5月には、ロックラン・スティーブンス氏（ビクトリア・ブッシュレンジャーズ及びメルボルン・レナゲーズ）の指導による、10日間の合宿を行い、6月には、サモアでのコーチも務めるニコール・マーティン氏（オーストラリア・インドアクリケット代表）による指導が行われました。

マーティン氏は、「このチームは、心から上手くなりたいと願う選手が集まった、素晴らしいチームです。彼女達は、情熱を持って意欲的に取り組んでいます。それは、私から見ても素晴らしい事であり、今大会では彼女達の良い部分を取り入れたいと思っています。」と述べました。

日本チームは、2010年及び2012年の東アジア太平洋予選に優勝した後、2014年には惜しくもパプア・ニューギニアに敗れ、タイトルを失いましたが、2016年には再び栄光を掴むべく全力で取り組んでいます。

JCL Round 10: Sharks & Paddy’s Move In Opposite Directions

A week ago it was a young Chiba Sharks team grabbing the headlines, so this week the same club decided to rest even more senior players and field a team with seven players aged 21 or under. The result was a 181-run win over bottom club Paddy Foleys.

Batting first after winning the toss at Sano Three, the innings of 273/9 was built on a 133 opening stand by Captain Dhugal Bedingfield and the Mian Siddique, one of three Chiba My-Ys players selected in the Japan National Squad for 2016.

Bedingfield was highly assured and kept his rookie partner calm while compiling 76 from just 64 deliveries, but his dismissal led to a mini collapse with Sharks losing four for 36, including Siddique for a patient 47.

The scoreboard kept ticking over, Nick Reynolds following up his impressive debut last week with 35 from 23 while Kurumi Ota, also on debut for the 1st XI and playing her last game before heading off to Samoa for the regional World Cup Qualifier, marshalled the tail to take the team to 273/9, the 4th highest of the season so far in Division One.

The chase, like so many of Paddy’s batting efforts this season, started badly and never recovered. A defiant 44 at the top by Ashiq Hussain was all they had to show as seven different Sharks bowlers took a bite out of their innings, with Siddique the pick of them collecting 3/6 from his four overs.

As Paddy’s slumped to 93 all out, the result establishes both teams at the opposite ends of the table. While Sharks have all but guaranteed a semi-final berth, Paddy’s are yet to get into the black in terms of points after an early deduction leaves them on -0.5 for the season.

Back to back wins for Sharks and back to back matches rained off for the Tokyo Wombats have had a significant impact at the top of the table as their match against 3rd place Tigers fell foul of the rainy season.

With Sano taking a break this week, Wyverns and MAX came up against each other in a fixture Wyverns needed to win as a reversal would leave their semi-final hopes teetering on the brink.

Spirits were raised in the Wyverns camp as they welcomed back Naotsune “Bebe” Miyaji after he opted to take a break from the game this season.

It was MAX who won the toss and batted first, with wickets being spread around with two each for Shodai Yamada, Junmei Haneda, Tomoki Ota and Raheel Kano as MAX were dismissed for 133 in just 36 overs, Amigo Kobayashi top scoring with a fairly meagre 22 before giving Miyaji a wicket on his return.

Wyverns chase did not start well as their openers managed just a single run between them, but Ota and Miyaji pulled it back to 40/2 before trouble returned. Spin twins Vinay Iyer (4/16) and Makoto Taniyama (3/15) caused the problems on a slow deck at Sano International Cricket Ground as wickets tumbled very suddenly, Wyverns losing 8/28 in no time at all to earn MAX a 65-run win plus a valuable bonus point

That point pushes MAX above Sano and into fourth place and placing big importance on their match against third placed Tigers in Round 11 on July 23rd.
