The National Selection Committee for the Women’s Japan National Squads, chaired by Vinay Iyer, have announced the preliminary Squads for Japan Women and Japan National Academy (Female).
There may be additional members added following the Japan Premier League and early rounds of the domestic season.

As confirmed earlier in the year, the Japan National Academy Squad (Female) replaces the Women’s Development Squad for 2025, with players chosen who have the potential to represent Japan at senior or Under 19 level in the future.
As with the senior squad, players may be added following the Japan Under 16 and Under 19 Leagues and the Women’s Japan Premier League.

*The J-STAR Project is a project to discover future top athletes who will shine at world-class competitions. The J-STAR project in cricket was implemented from the end of 2024 to the beginning of 2025 with the support of the Japan Centre for the Promotion of Sports and other organisations.

The Women’s Japan National Squad is an annual training squad consisting of promising players. The aim of the squad is to build an inspirational Women’s National Team. Women’s Japan National Teams that play International Cricket are selected from this squad.
In 2024 the JCA created the Women’s Development Squad as an annual training squad consisting of talented players. The aim of the squad is to develop players that can represent Japan in the future. From 2025 this will be renamed the Japan National Academy (Female).
This squad will not have an age limit, and will also be where the Women’s U19 Japan National Team will be selected from. It is hoped the Women’s U19 team will play its first matches in 2026.
