Although Tokai spans a large region, most of the competitive cricket in the region centers upon Fuji City in Shizuoka. The two hard pitches in Fuji were the first proper cricket grounds to be made in Japan. The grounds have hosted Japan Cricket League matches for several years, with teams often travelling the long distance from the Tokyo area to play under the slopes of Mt Fuji.

More recently, local cricket in Tokai has received a boost with the emergence of several clubs in and around Aichi prefecture. In 2019 six teams competed in the Japan Cup T20 competition in the Tokai with all matches played in Fuji.

The Japan Cricket Association is working with the cricket community in Aichi to establish a cricket base in the area. In March 2019 the Cricket Challenge in Nagoya was held to promote cricket to a wider audience in Aichi.

A Tokai representative team has competed in the Japan Cup Finals on several occasions.
