The 2017 Women’s World T20 Qualifier was hosted in Sano, Japan during April and May. The tournament included hosts Japan along with Papua New Guinea, Samoa and Vanuatu.<\/p>\n

The Japan team was coached by Katrina Keenan who had returned to work with the team for the one off tournament having been away from Japan for many years, and was captained by Kurumi Ota in her first tournament leading the team.<\/p>\n

The inexperienced Japan team struggled throughout but ended the tournament on a high with victory over Vanuatu, although still finished fourth.<\/p>\n
