\"\"\"\"<\/a>The Women’s Japan National Team recorded a comfortable win over previously unbeaten China on day four of the Women’s Sano City International Trophy to boost their hopes of reaching Sunday’s Final.<\/p>\n

For the first time the tournament matches were able to start on time and Japan were quick to seize the initiative after winning the toss and choosing to bat.<\/p>\n

New opening partners Ayaka Kato-Stafford and Kurumi Ota put on 58 for the first wicket before the latter was caught on 18 trying to accelerate the scoring rate.<\/p>\n

Kato-Stafford continued the fine start to her international career by top scoring for a second match in succession, eventually stumped on 36 from 41 balls.<\/p>\n

China were able to prize some momentum back as the Japanese middle order struggled to build on the strong start, and the innings closed at 94 for seven from 20 overs with eft-arm spinner Liu Mengting the pick of the Chinese attack with two for 18.<\/p>\n

China looked to come out on the offensive and Li Jiaping whacked the second ball of the innings from Ahilya Chandel back over her head for four, but that would be as good as it would get for the Chinese batters.<\/p>\n

Nonoha Yasumoto dismissed Jiaping in the 5th over and from then on the Japanese bowlers were able to wrestle momentum back. Chandel returned to pick up two while Kato-Stafford also grabbed her first international wicket as well as a run-out to secure the MVP award.<\/p>\n\"\"\n

Kurumi Ota took three valuable wickets in the middle of the innings, finishing with three for 13, and China were unable to bat their overs with Japan taking all ten wickets for 70 runs to earn a 24-run win<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In the afternoon game the Philippines were convincing winners against Mongolia, winning by 118 runs to set up a showdown with hosts Japan tomorrow morning.<\/p>\n
