The Men\u2019s Japan National Team recorded a fourth win in succession, a sixth on tour and extended their overall winning streak to 12 matches by beating the Philippines in Incheon.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Winning the toss and batting first, Japan made a strong start as Kendel Kadowaki-Fleming (24 off 18 balls) and Lachlan Yamamoto-Lake (38 off 45) put on an opening stand of 49 in the powerplay, comfortably Japan\u2019s best start of the tour.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\"\"\n

Japan were made to work hard for runs in the remaining 14 overs Philippines captain Daniel Smith taking regular wickets on his way to figures of three for 23 which helped keep Japan to a manageable total of 121 for seven from 20 overs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With the ball however, Japan were unplayable. Recovering from injury to play his first match of the tournament, Piyush Kumbhare opened with a maiden and set the tone right away. He backed that up with a stunning caught and bowled in his second over to dismiss the dangerous Smith and open the door for what was to come.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As pressure built due to the bowlers restricting the scoring, run outs came to the fore and Yamamoto-Lake created one before Ibby Takahashi forced a second to remove two of Philippines most dangerous batters.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Takahashi and Makoto Taniyama maintained pressure through the middle overs, picking up two wickets each before Sabaorish Ravichandran and Declan Suzuki grabbed one each to see the game out as the Philippines were kept to 94 for nine from their 20 overs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The win by 27 runs<\/a> puts Japan four points clear at the top of the table with two games to play, meaning one win from the last two matches will secure the title and progression to the next stage of World Cup Qualifying.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The team plays host Korea at 14:00 on Friday, 4th October.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
