Kendel Kadowaki-Fleming will become the first Japan Men\u2019s player to earn a professional contract when he joins up with the <\/span>New York Strikers<\/span><\/a> and the Cayman Islands <\/span>MAX60<\/span><\/a> tournament this week.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The five-team tournament starts on Saturday 18th August and will feature some of the biggest names in the sport over seven days.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When asked about his expectations for the tournament Kadowaki-Fleming said: \u201cI\u2019m very excited to be representing Japan Cricket at the inaugural MAX60. To play with top players like Sunil Narine, and against superstars like David Warner will be a great experience.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He went on to add that he hopes his inclusion in the event can be an inspiration to other Japanese players with ambitions of making a living from the sport.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Kadowaki-Fleming is the first player to benefit from the Japan Cricket Association\u2019s latest initiative; the KAIKA Talent Recognition Programme, which provides financial support to players aiming to make a living by playing the game professionally.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
