{"id":28008,"date":"2024-05-04T20:51:30","date_gmt":"2024-05-04T11:51:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cricket.or.jp\/?p=28008"},"modified":"2024-05-05T19:51:11","modified_gmt":"2024-05-05T10:51:11","slug":"%e3%83%ac%e3%83%9d%e3%83%bc%e3%83%88%ef%bd%9c%e6%97%a5%e6%9c%ac%e3%83%97%e3%83%ac%e3%83%9f%e3%82%a2%e3%83%aa%e3%83%bc%e3%82%b0-2024-%e5%a4%a7%e4%bc%9a2%e6%97%a5%e7%9b%ae","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cricket.or.jp\/en\/%e3%83%ac%e3%83%9d%e3%83%bc%e3%83%88%ef%bd%9c%e6%97%a5%e6%9c%ac%e3%83%97%e3%83%ac%e3%83%9f%e3%82%a2%e3%83%aa%e3%83%bc%e3%82%b0-2024-%e5%a4%a7%e4%bc%9a2%e6%97%a5%e7%9b%ae\/","title":{"rendered":"JPL IX: Three Teams Battle to Reach Final"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a day of drama, intrigue and more explosive hitting at the Sano International Cricket Ground, three teams are left with a chance to make the JPL Grand Final tomorrow afternoon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">East Kanto Sunrisers arrived this morning with two wins from two and knowing that a win against North Kanto Lions would almost certainly be enough to book their place in the final, only for the game of the tournament to unfold.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Batting first the Lions made a steady start as Kawshan Kulasooriya (49) and Ghufran Mir (28) but on 78 for the first wicket before the Sunrisers off-spinners wreaked havoc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ibby Takahashi (two for 28) started things off before Ash Thurgate took five for 28 to restrict the Lions to a very chasable 135 for eight.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-28015\" src=\"https:\/\/cricket.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/DSC_9150-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cricket.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/DSC_9150-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cricket.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/DSC_9150-1024x684.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/cricket.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/DSC_9150-768x513.jpg 768w, https:\/\/cricket.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/DSC_9150-1536x1025.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/cricket.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/DSC_9150-2048x1367.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The defence started well for the Lions as Nikhil Pol was removed in the first over, but Abhishek Anand enjoyed himself to the tune of 51 from 45 balls but even with his dismissal the Sunrisers were in the box seat with ten runs needed from 11 balls with five wickets in hand.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What happened next will go down in JPL history, as Zubair Khan bowled an incredible penultimate over, dismissing Tsuyoshi Takada with his second ball before effecting two run outs and only conceding four from the over.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With seven needed off the final over, Reo Sakurano-Thomas started with a wide then dismissed Thurgate leaving the Sunrisers nine down. Two needed off the final ball Ben Ito-Davis (43) could not quite get it done leaving <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cricclubs.com\/cricketorjp\/fullScorecard.do?matchId=4471&amp;clubId=21278\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the scores tied<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the points shared.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That left the Sunrisers on five points and nervously watching the afternoon fixtures due to their bye in Round Four.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over on SICG at the same time the South Kanto Super Kings displayed their pedigree by registering a crushing win over the Kansai Chargers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Batting first Alester Kadowaki-Fleming made his mark on Yamamoto-Lake had dangerman Josh Brown caught for just 14, the belief surged through the Super Kings with Charlie Hinze strangling the scoring by taking two for eight from his four overs, while Kohei Kubota grabbed three for 22 to bowl the Chargers all out for 85 and register a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cricclubs.com\/cricketorjp\/viewScorecard.do?matchId=4472&amp;clubId=21278\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">win by 79 runs<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Those results left West Kanto Hurricanes knowing they needed two wins to have any chance of making the final, but they came up against an angry Brown who whacked a 19-ball fifty on his way to 78 from 42 balls which helped the Chargers to 132 all took centre stage, reminding everyone of his enduring class by taking four for 15 to bowl the Chargers to an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cricclubs.com\/cricketorjp\/viewScorecard.do?matchId=4473&amp;clubId=21278\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">18-run victory<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That result meant that the Super Kings vs Lions contest on Ground Two became a virtual knockout, and in such situations the big players tend to stand up.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sabaorish Ravichandran hit a 27-ball 44 as the Super Kings posted 152 for eight despite four for 17 from Rizwan style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All that means that The Sunrisers remain top with five points, while the Chargers and Super Kings have four each.
