However his dismissal slowed things down dramatically and it took a measured 17 from Aditya Phadke to break the back of the run chase.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ultimately the Gorillas squeezed home with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cricclubs.com\/cricketorjp\/fullScorecard.do?matchId=3354&amp;clubId=21278\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">five wickets<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and 15 balls to spare, giving coach Vinay Iyer plenty of reason to celebrate after stringing together three successive victories.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Gorillas had earned their place in the final virtue of a win in a de facto semi final against the Vipers, which was reduced to 13 overs-a-side due to morning rain.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Drake and Khan again set the tone with the ball, conceding just 20 runs in their six overs to restrict the Vipers to 70 for even despite an anchoring 25 from Kento Ota-Dobell.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite a wobble at 33 for three, a 38-run stand between Hugo Tani-Kelly and Daniel Panckhurst was enough to ensure Gorillas a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1A-sqJ-Yn2TgSYpOLih4B95vdkDa8-qTiXXIXimuKwFo\/edit\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">six-wicket win<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and genuine confidence in their ability to chase.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That win for the Gorillas condemned the Vipers to the third-place play-off for the second year running, once again against the Dragons, who suffered a third loss in succession when the Turtles beat them by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cricclubs.com\/cricketorjp\/viewScorecard.do?matchId=3349&amp;clubId=21278\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">nine-runs<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the shortened morning match.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Vipers, looking to avoid a second successive wooden spoon, fancied their chances after posting the highest score of the weekend thanks to a 39-ball 49 from Kento Ota-Dobell in an 87-run partnership with Koji Hardgrave-Abe (33).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-22774\" src=\"https:\/\/cricket.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/DSC_4187-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cricket.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/DSC_4187-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cricket.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/DSC_4187-1024x681.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/cricket.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/DSC_4187-768x511.jpg 768w, https:\/\/cricket.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/DSC_4187-1536x1022.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/cricket.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/DSC_4187-2048x1362.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A total of 131 for seven looked imposing, but with nothing to lose the Dragons, just like a year ago, dug deep to grab their only win of the weekend to snatch third place.
