{"id":12110,"date":"2019-08-08T12:47:57","date_gmt":"2019-08-08T03:47:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cricket.or.jp\/?p=12110"},"modified":"2019-09-04T10:34:13","modified_gmt":"2019-09-04T01:34:13","slug":"%ef%bd%8a%e3%80%80%ef%bd%82%ef%bd%81%ef%bd%93%ef%bd%88%e3%80%80%e9%96%8b%e5%b9%95%e3%81%97%e3%81%be%e3%81%97%e3%81%9f%e3%80%82","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cricket.or.jp\/en\/%ef%bd%8a%e3%80%80%ef%bd%82%ef%bd%81%ef%bd%93%ef%bd%88%e3%80%80%e9%96%8b%e5%b9%95%e3%81%97%e3%81%be%e3%81%97%e3%81%9f%e3%80%82\/","title":{"rendered":"Runs Aplenty in First Ever Womens J-Bash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The inaugural Womens J Bash was launched at the BST Nagasawa Ground in Kawasaki on Saturday August 3rd.<\/p>\n<p>The Pandas, Panthers, Pelicans and Penguins brought plenty of colour, excitement, wickets and boundaries to match day one of Japan&#8217;s newest womens T20 competition.<\/p>\n<p>Match one took place in the sweltering afternoon heat, Mai Yanagida&#8217;s Panthers winning the toss and batting first.<\/p>\n<p>Yanagida formed a 93 run partnership with Akari Kano, the pair helping the Panthers to a formidable 143\/8 off their 20 overs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cricket.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Webp.net-resizeimage-15.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-12116\" src=\"https:\/\/cricket.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Webp.net-resizeimage-15-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cricket.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Webp.net-resizeimage-15-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cricket.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Webp.net-resizeimage-15-768x510.jpg 768w, https:\/\/cricket.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Webp.net-resizeimage-15.jpg 1011w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Pandas captain Nao Tokizawa led her team from the front, claiming 3\/10 off her four overs.<\/p>\n<p>In reply, the left-handed Pandas pairing of Ema Kuribayashi and Akari Kitayama put on a 77 run partnership, giving their team a chance of victory.<\/p>\n<p>However, a crucial run out by teenage pace bowler Ruan Kanai followed by two quick wickets ended the partnership, and with it the Pandas chances of winning the match.<\/p>\n<p>The Panthers finished nine run winners in the first ever J Bash match, Yanagida securing the MVP award for her 53 runs.<\/p>\n<p>Match two was played in cooler conditions under lights and there was even more action with the Pelicans choosing to bat first against the Penguins.<\/p>\n<p>Left-hand batting sensation Ayaka Kanada was the star for the Pelicans, anchoring the innings with a superb 89 not out off 67 balls, including 10 boundaries and three sixes.<\/p>\n<p>She was ably supported by Rio Endo who made 34, the two putting on 103 for the first wicket.<\/p>\n<p>The Pelicans score of 157\/5 looked fairly insurmountable but the Penguins were not done with yet and launched into their innings with intent.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cricket.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Webp.net-resizeimage-16.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-12117\" src=\"https:\/\/cricket.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Webp.net-resizeimage-16-300x203.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"203\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cricket.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Webp.net-resizeimage-16-300x203.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cricket.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Webp.net-resizeimage-16-768x519.jpg 768w, https:\/\/cricket.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Webp.net-resizeimage-16.jpg 1007w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Early wickets fell but Miho Kanno was able to forge a steadying partnership with Miku Okawa in the middle overs, bringing the Penguins within sight of an unlikely win.<\/p>\n<p>When Okawa was dismissed Kanno decided to take matters into her own hands, unleashing a series of boundaries and sixes on her way to a dazzling 90 not out off just 47 balls.<\/p>\n<p>In the end the Penguins won the match with three and a half overs to spare, Kanno deservedly winning the MVP.<\/p>\n<p>The J Bash continues on September 8th at the BST Nagasawa ground and spectators are very welcome to attend.<\/p>\n<p>Click <a href=\"https:\/\/cricket.or.jp\/en\/event\/womens-j-bash-league-match\/2019-09-08\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a> for further details.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The inaugural Womens J Bash was launched at the BST Nagasawa Ground in Kawasaki on Saturday August 3rd.
